When is restoration needed?
A crown or bridge – is used when a tooth is misshapen, discolored, broken or too decayed for a filling. After all decay is removed from the original tooth, the restoration is placed on the remaining tooth. The restoration will look and feel like your natural teeth.
What is the make up of a restoration?
Metal – Gold or silver looking metal, which does not look like your natural teeth, has been used for restoration for decades.
Porcelain-Metal – Porcelain is bound to a metal that is fused to your tooth. This looks more natural than pure metal. However, the metal substructure often leads to dull and discolored restorations.
Zirconium Oxide – the only restoration material that maintains the beauty and translucency of natural teeth. Zirconium offers an alternative to those with concerns about metal and produces strong and long-lasting restorations.
